Michelle’s page kept the same single-photo focus and used a doilie as the circle layer that Linda had in her page. I love the little pennant flags she added. Cute!

Today I am here to share a fun way to create your own background.

 I love sewing, and I was inspired by this image found on Pinterest (click on the image for the original link) :

So I worked with a lot of papers from the beautiful Note to self kit and cut bits and pieces , that I cross-stitched together.

I then took a kraft cardstock, my cutting tool and went ahead to cut a big  heart behind which I glued my patchwork!

I love the handmade result and the colors just work so well together!

So I encourage you today to create your own background!

The best part about the December kit – Note to Self kit is that it is great for all occasions… in fact, I managed a Christmas page from it!

The patterns and shapes in the October Afternoon papers are great for all occasions, Christmas included!

All the colours are great for holiday pages too, lots of green, blue, and red tones too! I loved punching out lots of little circles from the October Afternoon paper bannery paper:

Don’t you love those October Afternoon Sidewalks flags too! Soo cute. 

All I added were a few snowflakes and voila – instant Christmas page!

I love a good journaling card and the index style journaling cards by Lily Bee in the December kit, Note to Self, do not disappoint! Let’s take a look at how Jennie and Elizabeth added these gems to their pages.

Jennie knew she wanted to write quite a bit on this layout, so she chose to add the journaling cards throughout her group of photos. The story reads from top to bottom, left to right, and as your eye follows the words, you are given a tour of the pictures.

Elizabeth used a few of the journaling cards like blocks of patterned paper, as a background for her photo cluster. The red-lined card is just perfect for bringing your attention to the small photos.

I love how Elizabeth kept the same long strip to the side of the page, and she also used the same tag treatment to the side of the photo. Such a bright and colorful page! Just love it!

Today we have Michelle Lanning sharing a page she created with our Note to Self Kit.

Michelle really made great use of the elements in the kit. The Lily Bee file folders make a great background on the page.

The Echo Park stickers made a bright and playful title for this page come together quickly.

This is Michelle’s final post for us and we are sad to see her go. We hope you have enjoyed some inspiration from Michelle with our kits.

We are very excited to announce that Jennifer Ingle will be joining our design team starting with our January Kit. She is going to be our first ever card designer. She will be sharing inspiration each month by creating cards with our kits. We hope you are as excited as we are!

We asked Jennifer a few questions so everyone could get to know her a little better.

What is your favorite scrapbooking product?

Oh, now that is a tricky question! I love great paper, but I’m also an adhesive junkie and I absolutely LOVE ribbon and twine! Stamps are a big one for me, too. But really, when it comes down to it, I love it ALL and I find that I’m often inspired by fabulous and interesting products!

What do you like to do when you’re not making cards?

When is that, exactly? LOL! I work full time and love to hang out with my husband and my two beautiful labs, Maggie and Thatcher. They are my baby girls. I also like to create other things like art dolls, mixed media stuff, and whatever else strikes my fancy. I collect children’s literature, too. I love it!

Any random facts you’d like to include?

I’m pretty random in general, actually. HA! I share my work on my blog, Just Jingle, and pretty much share me there, too. I like to laugh and I like to have fun. That’s what life is for, after all!

Yes, I reallly loved this sheet from the very first moment I lad eyes on it! I think every page/card I created this month has a little bit on it! For example:

I mixed it up a bit, here is a closeup:

It adds just the right touch, I did have to use my scissors to “help” it pull out.  This is good because you don’t want them popping off and not being able to find your embellishment.

Diana took up the challenge to create a project for Challenge #22: New Year’s Goals. This is her page about embracing life:

Diana says, “The challenge really had me thinking, just relax!  For instance I let my 11 year old son take my nice camera and he took these shots–he did a great job!  Also, when I think of butterflies I think they are a little whimsical, they are free, I need to be a little bit more calm about things.”

I love that the butterfly embellishments carry meaning and aren’t just trendy. And I love the photos Diana’s son took! Hmmm, a photographer in the making?
