One Item Wonder, x 2

Today we have a double treat for you. Instead of highlighting one fabulous product from the November kit, Harvest Festival, we are sharing two! First up, the American Crafts Remarks Stickers. Let’s take a look at how our guest designer, Kate Blue, put these to good use on her layout:

I love how she layered the stickers over other elements, including other stickers. What a great way to add dimension to a page.

And speaking of stickers, how fun are the Studio Calico stickers? Take a look at how Penny’s page came together with these kraft borders:

Isn’t the effect of the tone-on-tone kraft just gorgeous?

If you haven’t used up the last bits of your November kit yet, we hope these ideas have inspired you. We have some fabulous One Item Wonder features coming up next month. Have you checked out the December kit, Note to Self, yet? You can find it here. Have a great day!

lifting you- Diana

Hi there ! and happy monday!

Sophie here to share with you my first DT lift !

I chose a layout from the Fresh Picked gallery and I chose this layout by Diana Waite:

When I saw this layout in the gallery I was hooked: I loved how Diana created her own quilted background by stitching on bits of different patterned  papers. It gave her layout  a unique , handmade look.

I kept the idea of using bits of papers and stitching to create my own background. After a few attempts I ended up cutting strips in virtually all the sheets of paper from the kit , and mixing them with the Studio Calico’s craft borders. I machine stitched on the strips to keep the quilted look.

Et voilà!!

The papers from the kit all work together so well it makes the creation process so easy!

In the end my layout doesn’t look at all like Diana’s one although she inspired me!

  Thanks Diana!

Don’t forget to share your work using Scrapbook circle kits on our Facebook page: we love to see your creations!

Have a great week!

Sophie

beautiful flowers!

I love flowers and was SO excited to see that in our kit there was ribbon flowers included in this months Harvest festival kit.  I had a few thoughts run through my head when I looked at them.  First–how do I use these?!  And second–how do I adhere these WITHOUT adhesive?  (I didn’t want a sticky mess….)I came up with a simple easy solution–brads!  I know that you probably have an OVER abundance in your stash.  I know I do, and I LOVE them!  They were easy I pushed the ends of the brads through the middle of the flower and placed in the pre-pierced holes I made with my x-acto.

Here is the layout I made using these flowers:

I know they would be fun on cards, hair accessories, or even an embellished ring!  We would LOVE to see any creations that you make please feel free to share on our facebook page.

Cards. Cards. and Cards!

Hello there again, Elizabeth here to talk cards…

I don’t know about you but I really disliked making cards. But then again I think it really was due to working in an itty-bitty space and not feeling like they were good enough too. So I began to seriously wonder and ponder at why this affected me so and started creating more and more cards. I realized in doing this that it was just a block that I set up for myself! What we create is good enough in each of us and working in that small space taught me to enjoy creating cards. Also, I have always enjoyed the look on someone’s face as they opened up a homemade card that was created just for them in mind!

Don’t allow yourself to feel like you can’t do something within this hobby! Limiting ourselves will only stifle the creativity that’s already inside of us!!!

Elizabeth

Designer Take: Jennie

If you are celebrating Thanksgiving today, I hope you are having a wonderful time with your loved ones. I hope you have had a chance to count your blessings and express your gratitude. What better place to record that gratitude than a layout or other paper project? And if you do document your blessings, be sure to join us for challenge #20 – Gratitude (details here). Let’s take a look at what Jennie did as she played along with the challenge:

I seem to never have enough thank you cards on hand, and this is the perfect inspiration for whipping up another batch. Isn’t the Harvest Festival kit perfect for a thank you note?

Thanks, Jennie! Beautiful work, as always. Thank you for stopping by today and Happy Thanksgiving!

Keep It Simple

With the holidays quickly approaching, we are all short on time, but that doesn’t mean scrapbooking needs to take a complete backseat to all your other activities. If you are someone who likes to be consistently completing pages and filling albums you don’t want to take a total vacation from your memory keeping. But you may want to simplify. I know I’ve said this before, but the nice thing about Scrapbook Circle kits is that they come with a fabulous assortment of product types to make plenty of projects without adding anything from your stash. On this layout I started with a piece of coordinating cardstock (that was from my stash) added a strip of patterned paper from the November  kit (Harvest Festival), a journaling card cut from another piece of patterned paper from the kit, a title cut from the kit’s printable, a die cut from the kit for the sub title, and a border sticker from the kit. Adhere them all  and one 4×6 photo in a grid format for easy design and you could call it done. I did add some hand stitching to tie it all together, but I could have just as easily doodled that border and would have been done with this layout in a matter of minutes!

Here is to simply (and quickly) getting those memories down on paper, even when you are short on time!

Have a great day!

:) Rebecca

One Item Wonder: Bella

Penny has been playing with the Bella Blvd. stickers that are part of the November kit, Harvest Festival. Let’s take a look at how she added them to her beautiful layout:

I love that Penny made a sticker the center of her flower – so cute! And she also created a caption under her photo with a trio of stickers. Getting a frowny little one to smile is pretty difficult. What a great page! Have you used the Bella Blvd. stickers yet? We would love to see! Post your layout on our Facebook page and we will come take a peek. Have a great day!

Lifting You – DT Elizabeth

Hello! Today DT member Nicole has chosen to lift DT member Elizabeth to continue our month of DT Lifts. Here is the page that Elizabeth made .

I absolutely love this page. The yellow paper is amazing, the butterfly and pennants in the lower corner are too perfect, and the photo is cute!

Here is what Nicole made to lift Elizabeth.

There is so much to love about this page! The layered circles and splatters, the banner with leaves that also works as the title, and the playful cluster off to the side of the photos. I just love this!

Thanks for stopping to check out the DT Lift by Nicole. Hope everyone is having a great week!

Scrapbooking Signs of the Season

Hello, hello, everyone! Melissa here to chat with you today about documenting the signs of the season.

Right now we’re all gearing up for the hustle and bustle of the Christmas holiday, and the sights, sounds, and even smells around us are reflecting the Christmas spirit. These are wonderful things to document in your scrapbooks, especially if you’re particularly fond of a particular seasonal product, food, or activity. Make sure that you keep your cameras ready (phone cameras are especially great for this) so you can capture those little things that might otherwise be forgotten in the busyness of the holiday.

I used November’s Scrapbook Circle Kit, Harvest Festival, to document one of my favorite seasonal products. This one happens to be a Fall item instead of Christmas, but I’m willing to bet that we have more than one Bath and Body Works fan in the audience who welcomes the new fragrances that this store has available for every season. Even though I’m not particularly fond of fall, I do love Bath and Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin (okay, so really any of their pumpkin fragrances) products and stock up each autumn when they are available for a short time. This fall I even captured that love on a scrapbook page!

Be on the lookout this season for those little things that you’ll want to remember years from now. For me, ’tis the season for Dove Peppermint Bark- yum!
