Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share with you something I did with the flowers made by Jenni Bowlin that come with the July kit. Her flowers are generally solid white with one accent color for the pattern. You can see a sample of the flowers in the July kit image HERE.

After I planned to place these two butterflies on my page, I felt like they didn’t really pop or have great dimension. So, I misted them with some Smooch Spray. I used red and yellow mist. The paper that the butterflies are made of are great quality and they held the color really well with no dripping and awesome coverage.

The color even took on the bling on the butterflies as well, turning them a pale shade of the color I misted with. Bonus!

I wanted to share a layout that I used scraps–I’m serious when I say I just had little pieces of EVERY paper that came in the June kit–here is the layout I came up with:

I cut and tore, sewed, punched and layered–it’s messy and FUN!  And the best thing I feel like I got all I could out of the kit.  Challenge yourself–use up EVERY piece of paper in a creative way, I promise that you will have a GREAT time!

I had such a blast with this kit! Ever since I had a baby boy over 4 years ago I’ve become more and more obsessed with red, white and blue color combos. Perfect colors for a boy, right? I dress my son up in red, white and blue more often than any other color and his whole room is decorated in those colors as well. Since the main colors in this kit are red, white and blue with a touch of yellow and brown thrown in it was just so fun and easy to create with. I put these layouts together in 2 days which is pretty incredible for me considering the fact that I’m a fairly slow scrapper!  The kit inspired me to scrap lots of photos of my son as you can probably tell after you take a look at my layouts.

Hey guys! Happy Thursday! I hope you are having a wonderful day so far! Aymee Gandy here today to share a project with you that I have created using the June kit from Scrapbook Circle. I just love this kit! I wish I had 2!!! LOL. I have created a treat bag using some of my leftover scraps from the kit. I cut the bag out using my Cricut Expression and Sure Cuts A Lot Software. I then folded it up and added a small baggie of White Cheddar Popcorn. Next, I embellished the treat bag with stickers and die cuts from The Girls Paperie, all included in the kit. Here is my treat bag:

To secure the bag closed, I added some pink satin ribbon from my own scrappy stash. I love this store tag that is in the kit. The vintage feel it has is right up my alley!! Love it!

To create this flower, I used the punches that came along with my Imaginisce I-Top Brad Maker. I punched out two sizes of ‘petals’ and put them together with a hand made brad, also using the I-Top. I glued the flower down with some Helmar 450 Quick Dry and added some stickers, also from The Girls Paperie.

I just sat down this week to start working with the July kit, and I have to say that I love it! It helps that I have a boy to go with all of the wonderful reds and blues in this month’s kit.

I just had to stop by today and give you all some sneak peeks. It wouldn’t be right for me to keep all of this to myself, now, would it?! {grin}

And now I just have to ask…. what do you think of the new site?! It’s gorgeous, isn’t it? Lisa and her crew did a great job with it. Thanks for stopping by today!!

Today I want to talk about pictures on a layout. It’s half of the importance of the page right?  (The other half is your journaling….)  I think sometimes we get SO caught up in getting the “right” picture we get frustrated when it isn’t as perfect as we want it to be.

Please bare with me as I tell you a little story…..I showed up to my kid’s school for my weekly help in the classroom.  My first grader’s class was getting ready to go out and visit with the fire fighters, I started to panic because I didn’t have my nice camera with me.  (When I know that my kids are involved with something at school I bring my camera and take pictures like crazy.) Then I remembered I had my smart phone!  I was a little inexperienced with using it because I only had it a week.  I took the pictures and you see them on this layout: surprisingly to me the pictures aren’t really that bad!

My point is just take the picture–it’s about the moment not about the quality of the shot.  Challenge yourself to use the less than perfect pictures, and remember the camera on your phone works too!

Happy Father’s day to all of you fathers out there in our Scrapbook Circle world. If there aren’t any of you, I hope all of you at least were able to talk to or see or reminisce about the fathers in your life. I certainly enjoyed spending the day with my family.

Just a quick tip about the Alphabet included in the June kit. As I went to put together my layouts, I realized that I didn’t really have a lot of pink showing in my pages. Therefore, I didn’t really want the alphabet to be pink. So? I quickly pulled out my markers and solved the problem. For some of them I colored them blue, for some black (all before I took them off the sticker sheet!) It was so easy. I loved the font of this alphabet, and so I simply fixed the color. So, go ahead and use that pink alphabet… just color it brown, or black, or red… Enjoy!
